Gary Cound leads our ice making team with the helpful cooperation of our Assistant Ice Technician Jim Merkley. Gary is an experienced Level III Ice Technician. He began his career at the Ottawa Curling Club and quickly learned the basics of great curling ice. Gary then moved to the Napanee Curling Club and later was the Head Ice Technician at the Gananoque Curling Club before taking up his post at Cataraqui.
Career highlights for Gary include:
- Being in charge of the famous Welton Beauchamp Bonspiel under the close tutelage of Shorty Jenkins
- Head Ice Technician 2006 Trophy / Colts Provincial Championships
- Head Ice Technician 2005 and 2006 Gananoque Summer Spiels
